CONWAY — Join M&D Playhouse for its ribbon-cutting ceremony, hosted by the Mt. Washington Valley Chamber of Commerce, on Thursday, Aug. 15, at 5:30 p.m. at 2760 White Mountain Highway in North Conway, to celebrate the unveiling of its move to the historic Eastern Slope Inn Playhouse.
M&D, a 501(c)(3) non-profit community theater company, has provided high-quality, year-round, award-winning theater since 2000. With more than 20 NH Theatre Awards and the New England Theatre Conference Award for Excellence in the American Theatre, M&D has proven that quality live theater has a place in this vibrant community.
In April of 2019, M&D moved to the historic playhouse, having been located at the Willow Commons complex since 2009. Upon relocating, volunteers spent the month of April preparing the building for its first show in over three years. Dan Tetreault, M&D’s operations manager, led volunteers in building a bar located inside the back of the theater, which required removing several rows of seats.
“In addition to our the work of our dedicated volunteers, we received numerous, generous donations of time, equipment and supplies by local contractors, affording us the opportunity to offer our patrons a much more enjoyable experience,” according to Board President Deborah Jasien.
Members of M&D’s board of directors will be in attendance to meet guests and provide a tour of the playhouse.
Appetizers will be provided by Beef and Ski. Those who attend the ceremony are invited to that evening’s opening performance of the musical, The Little Shop of Horrors. Patrons are encouraged to book their tickets in advance, as this show will sell quickly.
Performances of "The Little Shop of Horrors" are scheduled Thursday through Sunday, Aug. 15, through Sept. 1. Tickets are $25 to $30.
