FRYEBURG — The Fryeburg Academy boys’ basketball team had four players net double figures in a season-opening 59-46 victory on the road over Poland Regional in on Friday.

After being tied 24-24 at the half, the Raiders outscored the Knights 35-22 over the final 16 minutes to pull away for the win. Fryeburg (1-0) led 47-41 after three quarters, and Sedge Saunders’ troops but the clamps on Poland (0-1) in the final quarter holding them to just five points.

Fryeburg’s Oscar Saunders led all scorers on the night with 19 points. Teammate Reese Kneisler added 14; Tucker Buzzell, 11; Nate Knapp, 10; and Eloi Terricabras, 9.

Fryeburg is scheduled to play two homes contest this week in the friendly confines of Wadsworth Arena. Tuesday, the Raiders host Cape Elizabeth (0-1) at 6:30 p.m., and Friday welcome Leavitt (1-0) to town for another 6:30 p.m. start.

Cape lost its opener on Friday in Cumberland, Maine, to Greely, 74-62.
