CONWAY — The third session of Frann Ravid’s Morning Medley adult fitness class at the Conway Parks and Recreation Department is scheduled to begin Friday, Jan. 3 and run through Friday, Feb. 14.
The adult fitness program will meet Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:15-10:15 a.m. in the Marshall Gymnasium at the Conway Rec. Department, which is located within Kennett Middle School in Conway Village.
There is no class on Jan. 20.
The cost for the 18 classes is $30.
This instructor-led group fitness class includes a motivating mix of aerobics, resistance training, interval work and circuit training. Participants will build cardiorespiratory endurance, muscle strength and flexibility while burning calories and improving body composition. Beginners, exercise enthusiasts and all adults in between are welcome.
“It’s been great,” Recreation Director John Eastman said by phone Thursday. “Frann is outstanding. Being a former (middle) school teacher, she connects really well with people. I’ve gotten a lot of really positive comments from people in the class, they love it.”
Eastman added: “With the facility we now have, we want this to be a true community center. I believe there is a need for adults to get out and exercise here in the valley. We had good numbers for the first session and are hoping for even more with the next one.”
“This is for all ages as long as you are an adult, and all fitness levels, too,” said Ravid, who is a certified group instructor by the American Council on Exercise, and lives in Center Conway. “I’ve not been a trainer for a long time but I’ve been a longtime participant. I got certified this summer by the American Council on Exercise. I did it so I could start this program.”
