CONWAY — Week 6 of Cranmore Mountain Meisters started off as many Meister Wednesdays do of late; dumping snow and a SAU 9 two-hour start-of-school delay.
The courses were soft all morning long as the snow persisted. Just after noon, the skies were blue and the sun was shining until the clouds rolled in again and the temperature cooled off. We had a total of 264 racers came through the finish line with over 70 individuals opting for the Pay2Play Option and generating $370 for End 68 Hours of Hunger!
The Gibson Cup’s scheduled Super G was postponed due to heavy snow on the course. In its place, we ran another GS. Maggie Flynn was the fastest female followed by Dyane McIndoe and Meaghan Cassily.
For the men, it was Tim Simoneau, followed by Sean Doucette and in third place, Harry Mann. Good job, Harry.
On the Meister Hill, the fastest female snowboarders were Danielle Jones, Deirdre Braun and Heidi DeWitt; and for the men, Trevor Kupetz was tops, followed by Kina Twigg-Smith and Alan Harris. The top spot for the female telemarker was Suzie Boone. For the men, it was Paul Robert, followed by Bob Tafuto in second and Matt Howland, third.
For the alpine discipline, Hilary McCloy edged out Kayla Kowal for first place with Vikki Tinkham taking another third-place finish. On the men’s side, Tim Simoneau took the top spot with Skip Bartlett taking second and a third place finish for Daryn Gladstone. Congrats, Daryn.
Remember, next week (Feb. 20), we take a break for vacation week. Stay tuned for weather and race info for when we return and thank you to this week’s sponsor Synergy!
