There were dogs, runners, walkers and skiers in Whitaker Woods on Wednesday for the Breakfast Club and we were treated to a beautiful sunrise. This was our Pre-Christmas Run and the trails in Whitaker Woods, thanks to Steve Vosburgh and Mount Washington Valley Ski Touring, were in great shape. If you’re on vacation next week, consider joining the group for a walk, run, and/or breakfast!

Consider starting the New Year out on the right (or left) foot by taking part in the Frozen Flamingo 5K on New Year’s Day in Gorham. Walkers and joggers should flock to 169 Main Street between 9:30 and 9:45 a.m. to register. At 10 a.m. the 5K will start. Bright pink flamingos will mark the route. Instead of a fee, new boxes of tissues and/or disinfectant wipes are being collected for local classrooms. Check Facebook page RunForYou or email for up to date information. Registration for the 9th annual Whitaker Woods Snowshoe Scramble is open! Conditions in Whitaker Woods right now are fantastic!

This Snowshoe Scramble race will be held in Whitaker Woods, the in-town trail network maintained by the Mt. Washington Valley Ski Touring Foundation located in North Conway Village. This 4-mile race course consists of groomed trails and twisty singletrack. The date is Saturday, Jan. 19, 2019, with a start time of 10 a.m. sharp.

Check-in time and race day registration will take place from 8:30-9:30 a.m. at Whitaker Woods Meeting House, 2829 White Mountain Highway, North Conway. For more information, go to

The Annual White Mountain Milers Meeting will be held at Tuckerman Brewing Company, on March 5, 2019.

Acidotic Racing just announced a new race; the Waterville Valley Mountain Race. The race will take place Sept/ 29, 2019, and will host the 2019 U.S. Mountain Running Championships. It will be a two-lap race equal to approximately 11 K. Registration will open Jan. 1 at
