Also on the Oct. 6 is the third annual 502-Sgt. Noyes Memorial Workout hosted by Swift River CrossFit and runs from 9 a.m. to noon at Kennett High School.
The 100 Acre Challenge on Saturday, Sept. 28, saw 122 entrants under sunny skies and beautiful sunshine.
Matthew Schomburg of Wonalancet was the male overall winner in 28:32.5 and Mariette Hanlon of Lisbon, Maine, was the female overall winner in 33:53.4. For two-person teams, The Pandas, Nathan Klonel of Greenfield and Justin Borges of Peterborough won in 38:44; for three-person team, it was The Mud-Donas of Conway with Grayson Alosa, Ella Baptista and Gabrielle Croto in 45:44; and the four-person team was Eye of the Tabby from Fryeburg, with Sally Baptista, Marrik Iacozili, Sarah Davidson and Carl Iacozili in 45:44. The 2019 US Mountain Running Championships took place on Sunday, Sept. 29, at Waterville Valley. A 7-mile race up and down the mountain produced by Acidotic Racing was held on a beautiful day with 89 women and 184 men.
Grayson Murphy of Salt Lake City won the women’s event in 1:01.45; followed by Kasie Enman of Huntington, Vt., 1:05:58; Kimber Mattox of Bend, Ore., 1:07.23; and Samantha Lewis of Moscow, Ind., in 1:08:32. On the men’s side it was Joe Gray of Colorado Springs, Colo., 52:52:1, in first place followed by Andy Wacker of Boulder, Colo. in 54:16:1; Seth Demoor of Englewood, Colo., in 54:46:5 and David Sinclair of Peru, Vt., in 55:15:2.
Congratulations to these eight athletes who earned spots on Team USA for the 2019 World Mountain Running Championships on Nov. 15 in the Patagonia region of Argentina. Go Team USA!
