North Country Angling - Palmered flies

Palmered flies can be fished as a wet or dry fly. (STEVE ANGERS PHOTO)

February is the month that brings spring into view. It brings a smile to this writer’s face when leaving the shop after 5 p.m. and the sky is still illuminated. The sensor to the back porch spotlight does not trigger walking down the back steps to the Jeep.

This winter has been particularly difficult due to the return of normal winter temperatures. Negative temperatures on the Jeep dashboard have not been seen in many a winter. This angler loves the feel of that cold air running into the nostrils and freezing the moisture at the tip of the nose.
