Outlook bright for foliage season

CONWAY — The state's tourism bureau is predicting a big influx of business for New Hampshire this fall, and the Mount Washington Valley is well positioned to ride that wave. Local businesses had a good summer and have a positive outlook for the fall.

9-20-foliage leaf-peepers-4"We are anticipating about 7.8 million people to come here between now and the end of November, and that would be about 2 percent higher than last year," said Lori Harnois, director of the Division of Travel and Tourism in a news release. "More than spending time, these visitors will spend over a $1 billion, which is up by about 3 percent over last year." Factors involved in the projections include spending patterns, gas prices, weather and the previous year's activity.
