CONWAY — Badger Realty has announced it is proud to join Northway Bank and Lowe's in presenting the third annual Grinchmas Who-liday Spectacular from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7 at the North Conway Community Center, 78 Norcross Circle, right next to the Conway Scenic Railroad.
The Grinch, Santa, Mrs. Claus and the Elves return to North Conway for the third annual event to spread some holiday cheer with area families. Have your photo taken with The Grinch, Santa, Mrs. Claus and the Elves, free of charge, by photographer Wendy Holmes of In Focus with Wendy.
Watch a bit of the wonderful movie version of the book, enjoy making holiday-themed arts and crafts, as well as decorating cookies. New this year, have your who-do done at the Whoville Hair Salon, and visit the Reindeer Kissing Booth!
The North Conway Community Center will be magically transformed into Who-Ville. And did we mention that the cuteness level will be at 100 percent as the "reindeer" roles will be played by puppies from Little Angel Service Dog's newest litter.
“We are very excited to join forces with Northway Bank and Lowe's to be able to host this event for the community,” said Jessica DiPietro of Badger Realty.
Many local businesses — Wendy Holmes of In Focus with Wendy, Moose Painting, The Conway Daily Sun, Sarah Ghelfi of Lotus Organic Hair Studio, Leavitt Contracting, 27 North, Hannaford and the Bernerhof Inn — are all joining in to create a truly spectacular event for the community. And all free of charge to usher us all into the holiday season.
All proceeds raised on this magical day will be donated directly to Little Angels Service Dogs and the North Conway Community Center.
There will be a raffle for an artificial, lit tree from Lowe's valued at around $350. Get your raffle tickets at Badger Realty offices on Main Street in North Conway.
People are also encouraged to bring some new items with them to donate. Little Angels wish list includes: leashes, flat dog collars, wire crates, dog beds and blankets, toys and agility equipment, stain remover, paper towels and wipes, dog shampoo and a vacuum cleaner.
The North Conway Community Center’s wish list includes: equipment for their micro gym (think medicine balls, bosu balls, resistance bands, dumbbells).
“We feel privileged to be a part of this annual tradition right here in our hometown,” said Brenda Leavitt, general manager of Badger Realty.
"The holiday season is already in full swing and being able to provide free fun and enjoyment to the community and help out two of our community's great non-profit organizations is truly what the holiday spirit is all about," she added.
Little Angels Service Dogs (a non-profit organization) reaches across the United States, partnering service dogs with the disabled.
The organization recently opened its East Coast campus in Bartlett and trains dogs to help people dealing with seizures, mobility-related disabilities, psychiatric disabilities, autism, hearing disabilities and diabetes.
Little Angels is one of the few companies in the country that will help pediatrics and is one of the only companies in the country that will place psychiatric service dogs with non-combat veterans.
The North Conway Community Center is a significant part of the community and provides a broad range of quality and progressive activities and programs for children and adults of all ages.
In addition to adult sports, youth sports, fitness classes and the very popular summer camp, the Community Center supports local businesses and nonprofits by providing space to hold meetings, conferences and events.
Continue the Grinchmas fun into the evening and enjoy the Mount Washington Valley Skating Club’s holiday performance, Grinchmas On Ice, from 5:15-7 p.m., at the Ham Arena, 87 West Main St. in Conway Village. There will be complimentary holiday cookies, as well as a place to drop off donations for Little Angels Service Dogs.
After the show, all are invited to stick around and enjoy free skating! Admission to the show is free, courtesy of Community Celebrations.
