CONWAY — Kennett High School held its annual senior scholarship awards program Tuesday, when $302,270 in scholarships were awarded to 77 students.

“Again, the Mount Washington Valley community went above and beyond to support this wonderful group of students,” said Jennifer Murphy, Kennett High director of school counseling.

Kennett Principal Neal Moylan and Superintendent Kevin Richard praised the efforts of Murphy and the guidance staff.

“Her department did an amazing job,” Moylan said.

“What a giving community,” Richard said, adding, “I know how much work goes into coordinating all of these scholarships and making it happen. Great work.”

For Moylan, it was his final scholarship night as the head of the flock as he’ll retire at the end of June after 10 years as principal.

“I have to say, this was the best one yet, it’s such a wonderful event,” he said. “When it comes to supporting education, this particular community puts its money where its mouth is.”

Moylan was proud to see a number of former students presenting scholarships. One was UConn graduate Michael Larson, who now woks for HEB Engineers in North Conway.

“He said it wasn't that long ago that he was sitting in the same seats at this group of seniors,” Moylan said.
