TAMWORTH — RS Consulting, LLC,will hold an an open forum to gather information about need, numbers and other factors regarding assisted living on Tuesday, March 3.
The consulting firm, hired by the county, is conducting a market feasibility study and financial analysis of affordable assisted living in Carroll County and needs input from the pubic.
The forum will be held from 1-2 p.m., at the Tri County CAP Office Building, at 448 White Mountain Highway in Tamworth.
“We invite all seniors, families who care for seniors, and everyone interested in this subject to please join us for a discussion about this very important topic,” states a press release from RS Consulting of Whitefield on Feb. 20. “We hope to have many in attendance so we may learn what your thoughts and ideas are about what you would like to see in an assisted living in Carroll County.”
On Nov. 26, the commissioners voted 3-0 to give the contract for the study to RS Consulting LLC of Whitefield, with a budget limit of $25,000. Ground Floor Partners of Chicago also bid on the contract.
The report is due 90 days after receipt of initial deposit making the deadline around March 20.
The commissioners wanted the consultant to determine whether affordable assisted living is needed, and if so:
• Where in the county such a facility should be located.
• How large the facility should be.
• What the financial implications are to the county, short- and long-term.
Commissioners have sought a study on the need for assisted living in the county since a public forum on aging, which attracted over 100 people, was held in April 2017 at the Gibson Center for Senior Services in North Conway.
In 2018, the county had only $10,000 to spend and would have had to vote to hire the consultant and then find grants to fund the rest of the study. The board ultimately decided not to move forward with that plan.
