CONWAY — There are currently 54 out-of-district special education placements, and, of those, 38 are preschoolers. The Conway School District's Special Education Review Committee believes full-day kindergarten and in-house preschool could dramatically reduce costs to the district as well as possibly better meet the needs of students and their families.

Conway School Board member Syndi White, who serves on the Special Education Review Committee, gave the entire Conway board an update at a recent meeting on what the committee has been up to and hoped to recruit a colleague or two to join the charge. White serves on the committee with Pam Stimpson, the director of special services for SAU 9; Pam Robinson, school psychologist; and Martha Miller, resource room teacher.
