Just a reminder that the next Freedom Conservation Commission meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, March 11, at 7 p.m. at the town hall. Matt Howe, the new Green Mountain Conservation Group director, will attend with his staff, present a 20-minute water-quality update, and also discuss potential best management practice projects. The meeting is open to the public. There are currently two vacancies on the Freedom Conservation Commission, one full member and one alternate.

Freedom photographer and “Catamount” author Rick Davidson will visit the Freedom Public Library on Thursday, March 12, at 6:30 p.m. to talk both about his photography and his newest book.
Davidson is the author of three local bestselling thrillers, “Catamount: A North Country Thriller,” “Murder at Stillwater Lodge” and, now, “Catamount Unleashed” which are all set in the North Country of New Hampshire.

Green Mountain Conservation Group’s 22nd annual meeting is happening Saturday, March 14, at The Preserve at Chocorua from 1 to 4 p.m. This annual celebration of conservation work in the Ossipee Watershed will include a silent auction and raffle, a delicious lunch served up by The Farmstand, staff presentations, and a keynote talk by renowned turtle artist and nature writer David Carroll, “Beyond Conservation.”

A pancake breakfast sponsored by the Freedom Community Club will be held at the town hall on March 15 from 8 to 10 a.m. Cost is $8 and children under 12 are free. Menu includes pancakes, sausages, juice and coffee.
Janet Johnson is once again offering a basket class on Tuesday, March 17, beginning at 9 a.m. at the town hall. At this class you will make and take home a gorgeous wood base fruit basket.
