FRYEBURG, Maine — Fryeburg Academy will be welcoming alumni and guests to campus for a busy, event-filled weekend on Aug. 16, 17 and 18 with a special emphasis on reunion classes ending in “4” and “9.”

On Friday at 5 p.m. the Fryeburg Academy Alumni Association will hold its annual meeting in the Bion R. Cram Library. All Fryeburg Academy alums are welcome to attend. Starting at 6 p.m., all are invited to the opening reception in the Leura Hill Eastman Performing Arts Center.

Beverages and hors d’oeuvres will be served from 6 to 8 p.m. while guests enjoy the Stephen Pace Collection art exhibit as they catch up with friends, classmates, faculty and staff. This event is free of charge and open to all alumni and friends of Fryeburg Academy.

On Saturday, reunion events begin early with a home-cooked breakfast in the school’s dining hall from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Field hockey and soccer enthusiasts are invited to meet at the fields at 9:45 a.m. for a fun pick-up game between alumni, students and faculty/staff — all ages welcome.

Campus tours will leave from the performing arts center at 1 and 2 p.m. and visitors are encouraged to stop by the school store for FA memorabilia from 1 to 4:30 p.m. in the main building. At 4 p.m., senior alumni (alumni up through the 50th Class of 1969) will gather at the Bion R. Cram Library for a cocktail reception and class photos.

The all-year reception and all other class photos will take place at the Harvey Dow Gibson Athletic Center in the Wadsworth Arena from 4:30 to 6 p.m. with the reunion banquet beginning at 6 p.m., catered by Fryeburg’s favorite chef, Alan Whitaker, Class of 1977.
