CHOCORUA — Chocorua Lake Conservancy Stewardship Director Lynne Flaccus will be offering a hike along the trails of the Scott and Bolles Reserve on Saturday, Nov. 9, from 9 to 11:30 a.m.

Meet at the Hammond Trail parking lot at the end of the Scott Road, north of the lake in Chocorua.

The trails are moderate, passing through mixed forests, along eskers and along wetlands near the shore.

Fall is a wonderful time to explore fields and forests around the lake. Plants and animals are preparing for the snow and cold to come, or have already become dormant. Along the hike, participants should keep their eyes and ears open for the critters that are still active. This is an opportunity to learn about strategies animals may use to survive the winter.

Be sure to wear comfortable hiking shoes, dress in layers for the weather, pack water and a snack. The hike is about 2.5-miles round trip from the parking area to the lake and back. Four-legged friends home should be left home for this hike.

For more information, call (603) 323-6252 or email Flaccus at lflaccus@chocorualake.org.
