EATON — Funds are being sought to cover the expense of ongoing repairs to the steeple of the Little White Church. The church's leadership is holding a yard sale the weekend of July 13 to help raise money and a capital campaign is underway.
The Little White Church was built in 1879 and it turned 140 this year.
"Alas, now water is leaking into the sanctuary, necessitating significant and expensive restoration of our beautiful steeple, seriously depleting our current maintenance funds," said Little White Church President John Hartman in the church newsletter.
The fundraising goal is $65,000, and the total cost may be $75,000.
Hartman told the Sun the church will be looking for an equity line of credit.
According to littlewhitechurch.com, "The church is a non-denominational, non-profit organization governed by a board of local volunteers, officers and trustees.
"The donations received from church functions, weddings, religious and community events go towards the maintenance, insurance and continuing restoration of the Little White Church."
Items to be sold at the yard sale may be dropped off today from 1-6 p.m. The sale runs July 13 and 14 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
