Gorham Recreation news from Director Jeff Stewart includes a special benefit concert, tomorrow night, Wednesday, Aug. 14, on the Gorham Common, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Former Gorham High School Student Max Sjostrom, along with the Gorham Middle/High School Chorus, will perform, with the proceeds going to the Coos County Cycling Club Kid’s Program.

The rain location is the Medallion Opera House.

Remember too, that the Farmers’ Market program continues each Thursday, through Sept. 26 on the common from 3-6 p.m.

And there is a project going on now to add a handicap playground on the common. If anyone is interested in donating money to that project you can send it to the Gorham Recreation Department at 33 Exchange St., Gorham. Questions can be directed to Jeff at (603) 466-2101.

Softball

The Gorham Recreation Softball League is in their playoff mode now, and this coming Thursday will decide the 2019 champions.

No. 1 seeded Mane Relections won their first and second round games over the No. 8 Weekday Warriors and No. 5 Fortin’s Burner, before losing to No. 3 Lancaster Bombers in the semi-finals.

No. 2 Taurus and Fortin’s will play each other at 5:45 p.m. in the loser’s bracket, with the winner playing Mane Reflections at 7 p.m.

The winner of that game will take on the undefeated Bombers at 8:15 p.m., and will have to beat them twice to win the tournament.
