GORHAM — It’s a Thursday morning social studies lesson inside a Gorham High School classroom. Block 1, which begins at 8:15 a.m. is underway.
All eyes are on high school teacher Peter Gagnon as he takes his class through key historical moments of the early 1960s — JFK’s election, the Peace Corps’ formation, the Bay of Pigs, strain between the U.S. and the Soviet Union. As he writes with an orange dry erase marker on a white board, the marker squeaks as its color fades. He grabs another marker, still speaking to the students, asking them about popular music of the time.
