BERLIN — Registration is now open for the 7th Annual RiverFire 5K Run/Walk, which will take place in conjunction with other RiverFire activities on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2019. All net proceeds from this event will again benefit Response - a Domestic & Sexual Violence Support Center.

The RiverFire 5K is a Run/ Walk event which covers a newly course-certified (NH 19005BK), out and back, flat and fast, 3.1 miles along the Androscoggin River starting and ending at Service Credit Union Heritage Park. Commemorative T-shirts are guaranteed to all who register prior to Oct. 4. Extra T-shirts are ordered, but not guaranteed, to participants registering after this date.

Registration is available either online at racemenu.com/riverfire5K2019 or by paper registration with paper forms downloadable at coosfamilyhealth.org/ or avhnh.org. Paper registration forms can also be picked up at Coos County Family Health Services locations or at Androscoggin Valley Hospital. Cost, excluding processing fee for online registration, is $20 through Oct. 4 and $25 after this date.

Day of race registration is available for $28. A discounted rate of $15 is available to grade school, high school and college students. This student rate is available only through paper registration.

Hand crafted awards will be given to the top male and female overall finishers as well as to the top three male and female age division finishers. As introduced last year, there are expanded age divisions in what was previously the 19 and under division. Age divisions are: 10 and under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39,40-49, 50-59, and 60 and over. In addition, a $50 cash prize will be awarded to the first male and female to break the existing course records of 16:14 held by Brian Beegle (2016) and 17:56 held by Meagan Boucher (2017).

The RiverFire 5K Run/Walk will also once again have a team event. Groups of three or more family, friends or coworkers are encouraged to participate as a team. Awards will be presented to the three fastest teams (times of first 3 participants added together) as well as a special noncompetitive award to the Best Themed Team based on originality.

The RiverFire 5K Run/Walk starts at 2 p.m. at Service Credit Union Heritage Park in Berlin and ends just as other family friendly RiverFire activities are getting under way. For more information about these activities visit androscogginvalleychamber.com.
