Body of missing swimmer found in Pemi River

LINCOLN — At 7:36 p.m. on Wednesday night, the Lincoln Police Department received a call of a missing female, who was last seen swimming in the Pemigewasset River that morning by her boyfriend.

According to N.H. Fish and Game, a search was launched by the Lincoln and Woodstock Police Departments on Wednesday evening; they were joined by the N.H. State Police — Marine Patrol and multiple other agencies when the search resumed on the morning of Thursday.

The body of the missing female was located in the vicinity of Lodge Road and South Peak Road in the east branch of the Pemigewasset River, and recovery was made at 12:23 p.m.

The water temperature was 46 degrees.

The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. This incident remains under investigation.
