Mt. Washington Valley Community Tennis Association offering plenty of tennis opportunities

CONWAY — The Mt. Washington Valley Community Tennis Association (CTA) is preparing for a full summer program for kids and adults, working together with the Conway and Bartlett Rec. Departments and Cranmore Fitness Center.

Kids can sign up with the Conway Rec. Department for eight weeks of tennis lessons at the Conway Rec. Center starting June 18. Sign up with the Bartlett Rec. Department for six weeks of Bear Camp tennis lessons starting July 11. Or sign up for eight weeks of lessons at Davis Park or Cranmore starting July 10.

Adults can sign up with Conway Rec. Department for eight weeks of tennis lessons at Davis Park starting June 18.

Adult tennis socials every Wednesday evening starting in June.

CTA is working with the Conway Rec. Department to have lines painted at the facility in Center Conway so beginning tennis can be taught there as part of the summer camp offerings.

The association will also be sprucing up the Davis Park courts this month: Blended lines will be painted on the courts for 36' and 60' play, a picnic table outside the courts and a couple of benches inside the courts will be added, and possibly a net dividing one of the courts from the other 2 for lessons. The divider net prevents balls from flying over into the other courts and bothering others playing there.

Volunteers were at the park May 12 with leaf blowers and brooms to clean up around the edges and corners of the courts, and the backboard will be repaired and repainted.

A grand opening play day will be held in June at Davis Park for everyone to come out and see what we've done. For more information or for anyone wanting to help with any of our programs, call Nancy Osborne at 367-1043.
