Diana Bolander: Worth the effort to bring issues forward

To the editor:

During my campaign I have had the privilege and opportunity to work with some remarkable people without whose help I would not have been able to discuss important issues affecting Carroll County.

I want to thank my campaign manager, fiscal agent and town and district coordinators who worked innumerable hours in support of my campaign. A campaign is only as good as its organization and you made mine look easy, even though I know how hard you worked.
I want to thank my poll workers for putting in a long day. I had other candidates tell me that I had the nicest supporters working the polls on Tuesday, and they were absolutely right.

I appreciate everyone who was willing to take a stand by posting a campaign sign at his/her residence or business and everyone who made contributions, because a campaign needs money to put issues before the public. Grass roots involvement is what makes a democracy work, and I am proud to have been part of that with you.

Finally, I want to thank all those who voted for me. Knowing 43 percent of the voters understand the importance of government accountability, addressing the recidivism rate with programs that rehabilitate and helping victims collect restitution has made it worth the effort to bring these issues forward. I know that, whoever wins the position of county attorney, you will continue to inquire into and expect improvements in these areas because of the importance of these issues for Carroll County.
