Police conducting sobriety checkpoint

CONWAY — Police are planning for a sobriety checkpoint in Conway sometime during the week of Sept. 3.The exact date and location are not disclosed.
"As a result of the increased incidents of drinking and driving, the Conway Police Department applied for and was granted a superior court petition to conduct a sobriety checkpoint," the department said in statement, calling checkpoints "one of the most effective methods of detecting and apprehending the impaired driver."
The town will get federal funding to offset the cost of the operation, according to the statement. Questions about this operation or other town of Conway efforts to curb drunk driving should be directed to Lt. Chris Perley at (603) 356-5715.
