Conley and Richardi both running for sheriff, again

Races are starting to take shape for state and county offices with just a few days left in the candidate filing period. There's already a race for Carroll County Sheriff; two county commissioner seats; and state representative.The deadline to file for office is this Friday at 4 p.m.
Incumbent Christopher Conley, R-Wolfeboro, will face a familiar foe in the race for Carroll County Sheriff. Domenic Richardi, R-Conway, has filed for a third attempt at the office.
The race for county commissioner in Carroll County District II has drawn lots of interest. Incumbent Dorothy Solomon, D-Albany, is unchallenged in her own party, but three Republicans are seeking the seat: David Babson, of Ossipee; Kathleen Maloney, of Ossipee; and John Rose, of Albany.
Fellow county commissioner incumbent David Sorensen, R-Eaton, will be challenged for his seat in Carroll County District I. Erik Corbett, D-Bartlett, who has become a semi-regular at commission meetings, filed earlier this week.
The field in the newly created Carroll County District 2 for state representative is getting crowded. Incumbents Karen Umber, R-Conway and Frank McCarthy, R-Conway, face a primary challenge after fellow Republicans Dick McClure, of Hale's Location, and Steve Steiner, of Conway, both signed up last week. Tom Buco, D-Conway and Dick Pollock, D-Conway, both have filed for one of the three seats in the district which covers Conway, Chatham, Eaton and Hale's Location.

Governor: Bill Pearce Kennedy, D-Danbury.
Congress First District: Carol Shea-Porter, D-Rochester; and Rick Parent, R-Wolfeboro.
Executive Councilor District I: Ray Burton, R-Bath.
State Senate Carroll County 3: Jeffrey Ballard, D-Brookfield.
State Representative Carroll County I (one seat available) — covers Bartlett, Hart's Location and Jackson: Gene Chandler, R-Bartlett, has filed.
State Representative Carroll County III (two seats) — covers Albany, Freedom, Madison and Tamworth: No one has filed.
State Representative Carroll County IV (two seats) — covers Moultonborough, Sandwich and Tuftonboro: No one has filed.
State Rep. Carroll County IV (three seats) — covers Brookfield, Effingham, Ossipee and Wakefield: Harry Merrow, R-Ossipee has filed.
State Representative Carroll County VI (two seats) — covers Wolfeboro: John R. White, D-Wolfeboro; Christopher Ahlgren, R-Wolfeboro; and Stephen Schmidt, R-Wolfeboro, have all filed.
State Representaive Carroll County VII Floterial (one seat) — covers Albany, Bartlett, Chatham, Conway, Eaton, Freedom, Hale's Location, Hart's Location, Jackson, Madison and Tamworth: No one has filed.
State Representative Carroll County VIII Floterial (one seat) — covers Brookfield, Effingham, Moultonborough, Ossipee, Sandwich, Tuftonboro and Wakefield: Donald Wright, R-Tuftonboro, has filed.
County Attorney: Robin Gordon, D-Tamworth.
Carroll County Treasurer: Jack Widmer, R-Tuftonboro.
Carroll County Register of Probate: Henry Mock, R-Jackson.
Candidates for state representative or delegate to the Republican State Convention file with the town or city clerk where the candidate resides.
Candidates for governor, representative in Congress, executive councilor, state senator and all county offices file with the Secretary of State.
The primary is Sept. 11 while the general election is Nov. 6.
