Chocorua Day Festival July 28

CHOCORUA — The Chocorua Day Festival is Saturday, July 28, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Runnells Hall on Route 113 East at Route 16.

Visitors could win one of two cash prizes in the free scavenger hunt. Find the correct answers to 12 questions, and, if your name is drawn, you could win $50 first prize or $25 second prize.

Many artists will be selling their works at The Arts in the Park. The Chocorua Community Church is selling a barbecue  lunch with  grilled hamburgers or hot dogs, chips and drinks.

Find creative, one-of-a-kind holiday gifts at the church’s Christmas In July Craft tent. From hand-painted wooden spoons, ornaments, colorful, knitted scarves, there is something for everyone. There will be a raffle for a lap quilt made by Becky VerPlanck.

The Chocorua Public Library presents its book and bake sale.

Music will be provided by the Dixieland Dandies between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

The Chocorua Community Association will present the “Citizen of the Year” award at 1 p.m. to honor the local resident who has given time and talent to the village during 2011-2012.  The person is nominated who best embodies a spirit of volunteering for the good of the community.  The recipient’s name will be engraved on a special plaque.

Throughout the weekend, the Arts Council of Tamworth’s annual art show in Runnells Hall will highlight the work of dozens of artists who will have their photographs, paintings and more for sale.
