Demonstration of alternatives to household chemicals May 31

OSSIPEE — Green Mountain Conservation Group and the Youth Coalition will partner with the Lakes Region Planning Commission, GALA, and the Ossipee Conservation Commission on Thursday, May 31, to give a demonstration on how to use recipes that will be given out to participants as an alternative to using household hazardous chemicals.
The demonstration will be taking place at the Ossipee Library at 6 p.m. This year the Lakes Region Planning Commission received a grant from N.H. Department of Environmental Services to pay for the printing of a large batch of the "Alternatives to Household Hazardous Waste" flipbooks — a compact, wire-bound, eye-catching resource of tips and recipes that folks can keep around the house. Many have been distributed at household hazardous waste collections. The Lakes Region Planning Commission would like to get more of them into the hands of Lakes Region residents and demonstrate some of these alternatives.
The idea is to reduce the amount of household hazardous waste that folks purchase. In this free flipbook recipes to be used for the house, the garage, the yard, and for the workbench can be found.
David Jeffers of the Lakes Region Planning Commission and Maureen Criassa, the Center Harbor HHW coordinator are gearing up to give a demonstration of some of these tips and recipes as well as distribute the flipbooks to participants.
