Ellen M. Charles, 92, passed away in Ocala, Fla., on April 23, 2012. Ellen had previously lived in Jackson, moving to Ocala in 2000.
She was born in Standish, Maine, on April 22, 1920, the daughter of Harland P. Moody and Cora M. Bennett. She had four brothers, Chester, John, Harland Jr. and Lawrence. In her early childhood, the family moved to Bartlett,. It was in New Hampshire that she met and married Rodney C. Charles of Jackson. They had two daughters, Mrs. Carol Ann Holland and Mrs. Rhoda J. (John) Stimson.
She was the proud grandmother, of Christopher, and his wife, Linda, Constance and Chroy Holland, Victoria Jones, Michael and his wife, Tina, Allain, Bruce and his wife, Leslie, Allain and Heather, and her husband, Jeff, James; and the great-grandmother of Rebecca, Sarah, Christin and Justis Holland, Chelsea and Arie Woods, Caroline and Emily Jones, Jamie and Carrisa Allain, Justin and Hunter Allain, and Tyrus, Jacob and Paige James. She devoted much of her time and love to her family.
She and her husband spent many years in the Rochester and Jackson area, where she worked and enjoyed skiing, quilting and sewing. Ellen and Rodney owned and operated the business now known as Yesterdays Restaurant in Jackson for a number of years. Both were employed by Storyland during the building and operation of Heritage House.
She was predeceased by her husband, parents, brothers, grandson, Chroy Holland, great-grandson, Benjamin Allain, and great-granddaughter, Rebecca Holland.
At Ellen's request, there will be a private service at the Jackson Cemetery at the family's convenience.
