He was born in Haverhill, Mass. in 1921 and was the son of William and Myrtle (Woodworth) Atkins who were long time residents, of Saugus, Mass.

Leslie entered the Navy in the early 1940s and after his discharge became a sales engineer at the West Lynn General Electric until his retirement in 1983. He also was a graduate of the Bentley School of Accounting.

His great love was being a permanent resident in the valley. He was a great skier and enthusiastic golfer. He belonged to the North Conway Country Club and Wentworth Hall Golf Course for many years and in the late 1990s and early 2000s joined the PGA National Golf Course in Lake Worth, Florida in the winter.

He is survived by his brother, Richard C. Atkins, of Wakefield, Mass.; his sister, Lorene M. Birch, of Quincy, Mass.; as well as several nieces and nephews and their children and faithful friend and aide, Charlotte Linde, of Glen.

He was predeceased by his brother, Ralph, in 1943, Eldred in 2000 and his sister, Bernice Hosking in 2009 and brother, Robert, this year. Visiting hours will be held Saturday June 16, at the Furber and White Funeral Home in North Conway from 3 to 5 p.m. followed immediately by a service of pray and fond memories of a really good gentleman.

Burial will be at the V.A. National Cemetery in Bourne, Mass. on Monday, June 18, at 10:30 a.m.

The family of Leslie requests that any donations in his memory be made to the charity of your choice.
