Helen Louise (Jahn) Collomy, 90, of South Hiram, Maine died Sept. 24, 2013 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Helen was born Nov. 14, 1922, in Illinois, the daughter of William and Emma Behrens Jahn. She grew up as the eighth of nine children in Souix City, Iowa. She married Sidney Collomy and they moved to Maine to raise their nine children.
She worked locally for many years until her retirement from Vulcan Electric in 1984. Helen enjoyed playing Bingo, visiting casinos, quilting, gardening, and painting. Her favorite past time was playing any card games with family and friends and she loved her Chihuahua "Penny."
Helen was predeceased by her husband, Sidney; sons, Bill and Raymond; son-in-law, Bob; grandson, Trever, and all of her siblings. She is survived by children, Gloria and Ed Hermance, Mike and Patty Collomy, and Blanche Collomy, of Parsonsfield, Maine; Donald and Rhonda Collomy, of East Baldwin, Maine; Lorraine Myers, of Bangor, Maine; Janet Collomy and Cathy and John Berg, of Fryeburg, Maine; and John and Judy Collomy, of Waterboro, Maine; 19 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren with one on the way. She also has two sisters-in-law, Velma Jahn, of Kansas, and Neva Jahn, of Iowa, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours and a funeral service were on Sunday, Sept. 29, at the Watson, Neal and York Funeral Home in Cornish.
