Auditions for 'Next to Normal' Aug. 30, 31

CONWAY — M&D Production is presenting open auditions for "Next to Normal" Thursday, Aug. 30, and Friday, Aug. 31, at 6 p.m. both days at Your Theatre at Willow Common in North Conway.

"Next to Normal" is the acclaimed, groundbreaking musical that, according to Rolling Stone, "pushe[d] Broadway in new directions." With a thrilling contemporary score, "Next to Normal" is an emotional powerhouse of a musical about a family trying to take care of themselves and each other.

This production will be directed by M&D artistic director, Ken Martin, with musical direction by Rafe Matregrano, and vocal coaching by Debra Lynn.

Roles needed are: Diana, 30s to 40s, is sexy, sharp, delusional, bi-polar and depressed; Dan, 30s to 40s, Diana's husband, handsome, genuine, constant and tired; Dr. Madden/Dr. Fine, 30s, on the young side of ageless, assured, a rock star; Gabe, 17-18, Diana's son, dashing, gentle, bright, playful, everything a mother wants; Henry, 16 to 18, musician, romantic, stoner, slacker, philosopher king; Natalie, 16 to 17, Diana's daughter, 16 and trying to be perfect. It's not going well.

Performance dates are Nov. 8-11 and Nov. 15-18.
