(COURTESY PHOTO)New Hampshire Community Theatre Association (NHCTA), the only statewide community theatre organization whose mission is to promote higher theatrical standards, encourage participation through exchange of ideas, and foster growth through continued improvement in all theater aspects in the state, has elected it new board of directors for its 2012-2013 calendar year.

This year's slate of officers was chosen from the entire state of nominations and put to a vote at their annual meeting last month. The slate of officers is as follows. President for a third year in a row is Mark DeLancey, executive director of M&D Productions in North Conway.

"I am proud to be chosen from such a wide selection of possible candidates," DeLancey said. "It is an honor the entire state has elected me to continue helping them move into a positive and brighter future."

The first vice President is Kevin Reilly, of Nashua Theatre Guild. Second vice president is Jerry White who serves on the board of directors for American Association of Community Theaters. Serving as treasurer is Joe Pelonzi, of Actor Singer in Concord and secretary is Chuck Emmons, who also serves as membership coordinator and state festival chair.

"With this new election comes many challenges, but also many rewards," past president Mariah Sefel said. "I can't think of a better person to take this great organization to the next level. Mark DeLancey proves that the spirit of New Hampshire community theater is alive and well."

The organization is now in it's 41st year and has many improvements planned. Some of the many improvements will be a more diverse membership benefits package, raising awareness of how community theatres can create better business models and how collaboration helps create a thriving atmosphere. The signature event held annually is the N.H. Community Theatre Festival, in which up to 15 participating theaters from all over New Hampshire are put onstage to compete for the coveted trophy along with a large cash prize.
