CONWAY — There will be an artist reception for local artist J.P. Goodwin at M&D Playhouse, located at 1857 White Mountain Highway in North Conway, on Thursday, July 20 at 6 p.m., prior to the opening night performance of M&D's latest production, "I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change"
Goodwin moved to the valley in 2007, having been a frequent visitor since 1950. She relocated from the North Shore of Massachusetts, after painting there for over 40 years. Goodwin is an artist and designer who specializes in fine art, landscape design, oil paint restoration, custom needlepoint canvases and custom burlap design for rug hooking.
She creates in oil, pastel graphite, watercolor, and uses acrylics as muralist at the MWV Children's Museum.
Goodwin is also an in-demand art teacher for private and group classes. She holds degrees in fine art and residential design.
Her classes on "Painting With Watercolors" and "Everyone Can Draw" are popular attractions at the Mount Washington Arts Association, for which she previously held the titles of president and trustee.
The basic drawing class is for beginners or for the experienced person who'd like a refresher course in composition, line form and perspective. Goodwin has taught students from five to 85 and staunchly maintains that everyone really can draw.
She is currently an artist member of ARTWORKS Gallery in Chocorua Village, and facilitates a Tuesday painters group for ARTWORKS and a Friday group for the MWVArts.

There is no cost to attend the reception, which will offer refreshments and a cash bar. However, tickets for "I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change" are $20 in advance or $25 at the door.
