New England Road Rally Race was a blast

To the editor:
On Saturday July 12, the Androscoggin Valley Chamber of Commerce sponsored the New England Forest Road Rally Race. If you missed it, you should really make an effort to check out this event in the future. This is a “first rate” organization that really puts on an exciting show with engines roaring, power slides and metal grinding. The race car drivers come from all over the map, as do the spectators that follow this exciting sport. From our catering tent, we could distinguish many foreign accents as spectators ordered breakfast and lunch items from the chamber’s menu.
As with any chamber sponsored event, we need to pay a special thank you to those who helped to make this event possible: Laidlaw Energy Group and North American Dismantling for the use of the former mill property, David Rich of Northern Paving for sweeping the large asphalt chip pad that was used for a staging area. He was one dirty, dusty guy when he was done sweeping. Dillon Logging for allowing the use of their property for the running of the race, Munce’s Superior for equipment and beverage donations, Caron Building Center for supplies, Northland Dairy Bar and Restaurant for equipment food donations and supplies, Berlin Recreation Department for waste receptacles, Berlin Police Department for traffic control, Irving Mainway on Glen Ave for use of their property to post our banner and the city of Berlin.
This event goes to show that some of the best entertainment around can be found in your own backyard. Don’t miss it the next time it comes to town.
